Wimbledon Day 11

Men's Semi Final day and it was seen as an real glatorian fight between between 4 heavyweights of the game. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga seen as the Muhammad Ali of tennis. The fighter who never gives up and overpowers his opponent. Novak Djokovic who is the unbeatable man of the year only losing one match since the start of the year and that was at the French, Rafael Nadal seem as one of the greatest players of all time who has won all the Gram Slam as he look for his 3rd Wimbledon and Andy Murray known as the best Britain has produced since the 1930s when Bunny Austin was around. Exciting dynamic and super fast who is seen as someone who will win many championship throughout.

First Semi-Final 1- Tsonga vs Djokovic- Djokovic coming into this match with an record of 49-1 looking for win 50 of the season to take him to his first Wimbledon final but Tsonga fresh from beating the 6 time champion from 2 sets down would feel anything is possible and Tsonga started the better of the 2 as an nervous Djokovic went down an early break. After the first few games Djokovic started to find his rhythm of his serve and was starting to get into the Tsonga serve. But Tsonga stayed strong by fighting off break point chances and hit some of his big forehands as he got to 5-4 serving for the set. Tsonga felt the pressure Djokovic was putting him under as he tried to go for an big second serve over 130 miles per hour which he missed to give Djokovic break back point and Tsonga handed him the break with an wild forehand. Both men were able to hold right to the tie-break. But more mistakes from Tsonga in the tie-break cost the French men as he hit an easy forehand into the net to give Djokovic an 4-2 lead and the mistakes kept coming as Djokovic won the set through an easy volley which went into the net to take the set 7-4.

Tsonga seemed deflated losing the first and that disappointment showed in the second set as his first serve deserted him and his second serves were weak to let Djokovic dictate most of the rallies. He was broken once and then broken again as Djokovic broke for an 4-1 lead. Tsonga was unable to get into the Djokovic serve and when the few he did he was unable to dictate the point and was always chasing the ball which played into Djokovic's hands. He converted both breaks and within 30 minutes of this set starting Djokovic was 2 sets to 0 up taking it 6-2. He now had to do what he did to Federer to win this match and that didnt look likely as he went down an early break in third going down 2-0. But with the help of the crowd he started to fight back. He started to hit forehand and backhand winners as he played an stunning game to break the Serbs serve for the first time since the of the first set. The third set seemed to be heading for an tie-break when Djokovic seemed to have got through the Tsonga resistance and broke the Frenchman to go up 6-5. But Tsonga determined not to give up on his Wimbledon dream was able to play an nerveless attacking game which had the feeling of nothing to loss and he chased down everything and hit 2 stunning winners to force the match to a another tie-break. The tie-break though seemed to have an feel of how the first went as Djokovic had an 4-2 lead but Tsonga was somehow able to turn it around and get an 5-4 lead. The tie-break then had some really exciting rallies and Djokovic lost 3 match points and one of them was on his serve where he smashed one to save match and put down 2 massive aces to save the others but Tsonga got the set one on his 3rd set point taking an thrilling tie-break 11-9.

The comeback was on. The crowd were fully engaged and were willing another fight back from Tsonga. But again hopes seemed to dashes again as Djokovic broke Tsonga again as he went up 3-0. Tsonga did try and put as much pressure on Djokovic as possible as he kept holding serve and tried to get into the Djokovic serve. But Djokovic wanted to be in an Wimlbledon final since he was an kid and that determination seemed to come through as stayed so mentally strong and focus and he kept holding serve and had an chance to serve it out at 5-3. This time there was no comeback from Tsonga as Djokovic put in 3 first serves to go up 40-0. Even though Tsonga was able to get the next point Djokovic was able to win on the next point to take an thrilling match 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, 6-7 (9-11), 6-3 in just over 3 hours. An well deserved win and he showed what it meant to him being here by kissing the centre court ground and he called it a dream 'comes true' as he extends this run to 50-1.

Semi-Final Number 2- The second Semi-final was an repeat of last years Semi-Final as Nadal was looking to try and get his 3rd Wimbledon title while Murray was trying to break the duck of British players making it to the final since Bunny Austin and trying to be the first British man to win this competition since Fred Perry in 1936. The first set was an thriller set of tennis as both men started off in an fast mood. They both were able to hold serves easily and were able to show off there repeater of shots. They were hitting angles that people would not dare and hit. Both men looked focus and determined and fit. These two men were holding serve comfortably throughout the first set and was heading to an tie-break. It was 5-5 and Murray was serving. He had held serve easily till then but Nadal put on the biggest assault onto the Murray serve. He hit an few second serves which Nadal really attacked and sensed he could break the Murray serve but Murray was equal to it as Nadal was hitting big shouts at him Murray was counter punching with his own big shots as both men were in full flow to the delight of the crowd. The game kept going deuce and advantage but importantly it was Murray kept getting advantage and after 7 minutes of the game Murray escaped to make it 6-5. The crowd really routing for Murray this year unlike last year where the support was 50-50 seemed to take an lot of confidence as he did the same to the Nadal serves and Nadal was unable to handle the Murray backhand as he raced to an 0-40 lead. Nadal saved one set point but Murray was able to take the second as Nadal netted his backhand as Murray took the first set 7-5.

The momentum was with Murray and one of the big criticisms of Murray was that he didnt take that intensity into the next set but he was able to take that play into the second set. He was 2-1 up and 15-30 looking to break again and played an brilliant point until the last shot which was an easy forehand put away which he missed which seemed to hurt him a lot as from then on in he played an horrible set of tennis. Nadal held and then that was followed by Murray's worst service game of the whole match to go down an break. He doubled falted to give Nadal an break point and then missed an easy smash to go down 3-2. Nadal then played an love hold game and then Murray played another poor game and was broken again and Nadal held to win 6-2. Nadal made 0 unforced error in that whole set. The third set was an very poor set of tennis for Britain's number 1 as he made mistake after mistake. Giving Nadal second serves to look at and Nadal was making barely any mistakes. The third went as quickly as the second half of the second set losing it 6-2 again.

Nadal looked like he was going to race away with the victory after an tight first set and this looked even more likely as Murray was broken in the first game of the 4th set going down 2-0. But Murray was playing better and seemed to get out of the slump it was more Nadal magic which got the break and Murray held his next serve with some great shots being really pushed by Nadal. The Murray magic seemed to return in the next game as from 30-0 down Murray turned it around to 30-40 and have an break point chance. Nadal served brilliantly to effectively get Murray out of the point but Murray was able to get another break point chance which was an close rally but it was Nadal magic which saved that break point. Nadal was able to hold onto his serve as he took an 4-2 lead. Murray kept putting the pressure by holding and kept asking the question and was 30-30 in the next Nadal service game but again Nadal had the numbers and then he had one service hold for the match at 5-4. Nadal played the game like an true champion he is by holding to love and breaking British hearts again as he is into another Wimbledon final 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. Sets up an final against Djokovic on Sunday afternoon at 2pm BST time.
