Vettel dominates in Valencia

Sebastian Vettel predictably won today's European grand prix while Fernando Alonso took second and Mark Webber comfortably took the last place on the podium.

Vettel extends his lead to 77 points after his win and is looking untouchable at the top.

At the start, Felipe Massa had a cracking start from 5th on the grid, flying past Lewis Hamilton and nearly past his teammate Alonso. Nico Rosberg had got past Jenson Button at the start also.

On lap 6, Jenson Button got back past Rosberg with a brilliant dive down the inside of turn 2.

Nick Heidfeld got past Force India driver Adrain Sutil on lap 13 at turn 4 with a good move while Hamilton flew past Micheal Schumacher on the next lap using his DRS down the back straight.

On lap 21 Alonso pulled off a move on Mark Webber for 2nd place with the same move as Hamilton did on Schumacher.

On lap 30, Webber did pass Alonso during the pit stops after achieving the undercut on him.

Vettel completed his perfect afternoon by crossing the line first 10 seconds ahead of Alonso. Webber was crusing a bit in the last few laps because of a gearbox issue but still completed the podium places while all of the 24 starters finished the race which is the most in formula 1 history.

Race result

P1, Vettel P2, Alonso P3, Webber, P4 Hamilton, P5 Massa, P6 Button, P7 Rosberg, P8 Alguersuari, P9 Sutil, P10 Heidfeld.
