Premier League Darts week 2 Nottingham

Phil Taylor 8-5 Mark Webster

Last night saw 15 time world champion Phil Taylor get back to his brilliant best as he beat former Lakeside champion Mark Webster 8-5.

Taylor has a 3 dart average of 103.87 with a highest checkout of 68 and scoring 7 180's. But Webster played his part with 2 great finishes of 170 and 160 but could only applaud Taylor performance as the world number 1 avenged his recent quarter-final defeat to the Welshman.

Taylor said "I hit rock bottom last week but I feel on top of the world now. I had a couple of days off to get my head right and now I'm going to get better every week."


Raymond Van Barneveld 8-3 Simon Whitlock

5 time world champion Raymond Van Barneveld produced a sensational display of finishing to secure his first 888.com Premier League Darts victory of the season, defeating Simon Whitlock 8-3 in Nottingham.

The Dutchman rolled back the years with 4 ton-plus checkouts to bounce back from an 8-6 loss to Terry Jenkins at the O2 a week ago.

Barney had a 3 dart average of 100.15 with a 160,156,141 and 116 finishes and one 180 with Whitlock scoring a 3 dart average of 91.30, a 140 finish and 4 180's.

Raymond said "I loved that, I know what i can do and for the last 2 years i have only done it on the practice board and not on the stage regularly."

Whitlock is now the only player without a point.

James Wade 8-6 Adrian Lewis

The 2009 Premier League champion, James wade secured his first victory of the season against the world champion, Adrian Lewis.

Despite the loss, Lewis had the higher 3 dart average of 99.09. He also had 2 great finishes, the best being a 121 and scoring 5 180's.

James Wade had an average of 97.69 with finishes of 141, 136 and 102 and 6 180's.

James said "I'm really pleased with that because last week I felt embarrassed and like i didn't belong in the Premier League, and deep down I know I belong here."

Gary Anderson 8-4 Terry Jenkins

Gary Anderson is top of the league after making it 2 wins out of 2 with an 8-4 victory against Terry Jenkins.

Anderson was fantastic scoring 3 180's and 13 140+'s with an average of 102.21. He highest finish of 121.

Jenkins was battling as always but only scored an average of 91.41. He scored 2 180's and his highest finish was 120.

Anderson said afterwards "I am really please to have won again, we both missed a few doubles at times and it could have been different if Terry hadn't missed some crucial doubles at times.

Overall it was an amazing night which was said to have been the best night ever since it had begun in 2005.
