sports news in brief

Horse Racing- last week there was cancellation at Newbury as 2 horses had suddenly died. After an investigation the cause of death was electrocution. They both had heart attacks and an electric cable has been removed. The race will know go ahead on Friday.

F1- The new season of F1 is coming upon us very soon and the first race should be in Bahrain but because of the political unrest and safety cannot be assured the race could be cancelled. A decision will be made next week.

Tennis- Nadal is expected to make his return to Tennis next month in the Davis Cup. It will be the first time he will have played for Spain since they won it in 2009.

In other tennis news young Brit star Heather Watson lost in the quarter final at the Cellular South Cup 6-3, 6-4 to Evgeniya Rodina. Wozniacki is closing in on the world number one again as she becomes one win away from getting her world number 1 back. She beat Ayumi Morita 6-0, 6-1 as she eases into the quarters.

Rugby- England have released a number of players for the weekend club matches. Wilkinson is the biggest name to be let go. Moody and Sheridan are set to make there come backs after being out with injury. Corbisiero, Thompson and Wilson have also been released. Tom Palmer and James Haskell and Simon Shaw have not been released all will be rested for the weekend matches.

After Wales won impressively at Scotland there attack coach says he hopes that Wales keep the same team for the weekend. Italy is normally a game where the fringe players normally get a run out but the confidence of the players have been low and maybe a showing against Italy is needed to back up there win against Scotland.
