Bangladesh vs India- After the spectacular opening ceremony in Bangladesh it was the turn on the Bangladeshi men to take center stage as they played there co-host in Mirpur. But For Bangladesh the fun stopped there as Bangladesh won the toss and surprisingly put India into bat in a good batting pitch. And from the first ball Sehwag was on the money hitting it straight for 4 runs. The daunting task was that they had Sehwag on one side and the little master on the other. The first wicket stand was a quick start as India were getting the runs easily. The only way Bangladesh broke the partnership was when the great Tendulkar ran him self out for 28. Gambhir continued the supporting role for Sehwag as Sehwag eased his way to a quick fire 50 he got to 50 with a big hit for 6. Gambhir was playing so well but then miss judged a straight delivery and was out for 39 off 39 balls.
The score was 152-2 but after that Sehwag and Kohli (the new man in) really did take the game away from Bangladesh. They were getting runs quickly and easily as the Bangladeshi's struggled away. He eased to a century and he didnt look like he was going to end there. He was chasing Kirsten record of highest score in ODI world cup history and he was on track when Sehwag played a false shot and got out at 175 which is the joint 5th highest score ever in world cup history. There was just enough time for Kohli to get his first century in this world cup as he ended with 100 NO. Pathan was the last man out on the last bowl of the innings as India posted a massive 370 runs.
Bangladesh looked defeated before they even started batting which wasnt a bad effort by them. Iqbal lead from the front hitting a solid 70 runs and had good support from opening partner Kayes who made 34, Siddique 37 and Shakib 55. But it was always too much to get and when when Iqbal was out for 70 from Patel the game was over. Patel ended up with 4 wickets for 48 runs off his 10. Z Khan got a couple wickets but to Bangladesh credit they did bat out the full 50 overs and made 283-9. India won by 87 runs in the end. Shakib after the match admitted that the decision to bowl first was a big mistake and he did admit the bowling wasnt good enough for the batters to chase down a target.
Bangladesh have to win there next match against Ireland, in this stadium otherwise there chances of getting to the Quarters will be slim. India will play England on Saturday at Bangalore. This is a changed venue from Kolkata which wasnt ready in time for the England match.
