The cricket world cup is almost on top of us with the first match at the at the Mirpur stadium in Dhaka when Bangladesh play India in the opening match. But this week there are lots of fine tuning as teams play there warm up matches players are trying to get fit for the world Cup and teams are still trying to find out there best 11. Firstly a

South Africa put on an impressive showing as they beat Australia by 7 wickets. Australia made 217 all out which Clarke top scored with 73 runs and Ponting 55. The South Africans had little trouble chasing down the target with 6.4 overs to spare. Smith hitting 65 and Amla hitting 60 before they were both retired hurt. Duminy finishing off the job with 47 runs NO. Stein the pick of the bowlers with 3-21 in 8 overs.

Pakistan have had an impressive victory against one of the co-hosts Bangladesh. They hit 285/ 9 in there 50 overs with the opener Shehzad scoring 103 and Misbah-ul-Haq there vice captain hitting 100. Bangladesh were always behind the rate when Iqbal was out first bowl and only 3 players hit 30 plus. (Kayes 39, Siddique 38 and Hasan 30)An impressive display by Pakistan batting and bowling and should be watched closely in the world cup.

An really exciting match down in Colombo where West Indies were playing Sri Lanka. The West Indies hit an a score of 281. A lot of players in the team got starts and didnt go on. Top scorers were Gayle with 58 and Bravo with 54. But the Sri Lanka chased the total down with 2 and a half overs to spare and 4 wickets in hand. The top scorers in the run chase was Sangakkara hitting 71 runs, Dilshan with 62 Samaraweera with 55.

Another exciting match was Ireland vs Zimbabwe as Ireland won the game with 3 balls to spare. Zimbabwe hit a total of 244 for Ireland to chase. There main man was Chigumbura who topped scored with 103. He had support from Taibu who hit 45 and Utseya who hit 26 runs. Johnston had excellent figures with 5 overs 2 madions 9-2. In there chaise Botha hit an excellent 79 as he anchored the innings with Kevin O'Brien hitting 62 and hitting 47 and won there game with 3 balls to spare.

And Finally the Netherlands won a thrilling match against Kenya as that game also went to the last over. Kenya posted a score of 263-5 with Waters top scoring with 126 NO. He got support from Patel who hit 64 and Ouma and Obuya hit 20s. In reply the Dutch main man was RN ten Doeschate who hit 98 NO as he anchored them to victory. He had support from Kervezee who hit 49 at the top of the order AF Buurman hit 29 and Mudassar Bukhari 20 at the end to get Netherlands an 2 wicket win.

There are 2 warm up matches tomorrow as England play there first match in the Sub Continent as they play Canada at Fatullah in Dhaka and India play New Zealand at Chennai.
