Bangladesh woes as West Indies trashed them in there own back yard

It was one of the worst showings by a host nation in world cup history today as Bangladesh got humiliated as they were bowled out for just 58 runs. It is the lowest score by Bangladesh in ODI cricket. The West Indies eased to victory by only losing a sole wicket as they got there job done with 37.4 overs to spare.

Before the start of the match the atmosphere at the Mirpur stadium was electric and loud as the Bangladesh crowd were expectant after there victory against Ireland last Friday. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat. It looked like a good wicket which had a little help to the seamer's but it looked like a batting pitch.

The theame of the Bangladesh innings was summed up in the first over as they lost Tamim Iqbal. Kaynes and Siddique did try and steady the innings but Kaynes was soon out for 5 runs and Bangladesh were 16-2. That partnership of 16 was the highest partnership of the whole innings for Bangladesh. From then on it went down hill very quickly as Mushfiqur Rahim was the next man to go without scoring. Bangladesh were 25-3.

Siddique was the only player who showed on fight on content and made an useful 25 but he was the next man to go as he was LBW to Roach. He scored 4 fours in his 25 off 27 balls. The rest of the batting collapsed terribly as wickets kept falling every few overs. In was so bad the batting that apart from Siddique there was only one other player who even made double figures and that was Ashraful and he only got 11 runs.

Benn got the final wicket as Bangladesh were all out for 58 which is there lowest score they have ever made in ODI history. The crowd let them know how disappointed and angry they were as they threw There 4s and 6 cards at them and chanting "lossers" to them. Incredible scenes at the main Bangladesh cricket stadium.

The wickets were shared out between 3 bowlers for the West Indies. Hat-trick hero in the last match Roach got another 3 wickets today in his 6 overs in conceding 19 runs. The captain Sammy got another 3 wickets in his 7 overs conceding only 21 runs and the best of the bowlers Benn, who the West Indies have used to great effect in opening the bowling, got 4 wickets in his 5.5 overs getting maidens and only conceding 18 runs. Siddique toped score for Bangladesh with 25 and Ashraful with 11 runs. A lot of the wickets were given away but the West Indies did bowl really welland kept it tight and gave nothing away to Bangladesh but Bangladesh will be very disappointed with this.

The Chase was quick but sweat for West Indies. It was an chance for Gayle (the former captain) to swish his bat around and enjoy himself. He motored the team to victory in quick time. The only dampener to this chase by West Indies was Smith getting out bowled by Naeem Islam. Bravo did give a late chance for Bangladesh to get a second wicket but that did sum up there day they dropped an easy catch. They got over the line in the 13th over as Gayle ended up with 36 NO 6 fours to his name off 36 balls. Bravo was with him with 6 NO as they eased to victory is this world cup match.

For Bangladesh they move on to play England in a must win match. If they loss they will be virtually out because of there poor run rate. It may be a good thing that they move out of the Capital to a new ground as they start fresh again next Friday at Chittagong. For West Indies move on to play Ireland. Ireland will hope to repeat there success last world against the West Indies and there success against England last match. They meat each other at Mohali.

There was so ugly moments after the match where the West Indies team came under attack by Bangladesh supporters. These were angry Bangladesh supporters who thought that this was the Bangladesh cricket bus coming through. They wanted to show there anger. Cris Gayle tweeted this "Bangladesh stoning our bus!!! Freaking glass Break!!! This is ridiculous!!! Damn!!! W Cup with so many security an this happen!! Big Joke!!! Trust me I'm not keen here!!! ... players lay flat!!!" No one has been arrested so far.

In the other match New Zealand put on an impressive display as they blew Zimbabwe away. They bowled the Zimbabwean's out for 162. Taylor the opener making 44 and Utseya making 36 Cremer making 22. But Zimbabwe could not get partnerships going and none of the batsman who got starts didnt go on. New Zealand were very impressive with the balls as the wickets were shared out with Mills getting 2-29 off his 10. His opening bowling partner got 3-29 off 9.2 overs Vettori getting a 2 more and only conceding 25 off his 10 with Styris also getting 1 off his 4 over spell only conceding 13. There fielding was good catching everything and getting 2 run outs (Coventry and Chakabva)

The opener batsman looked very impressive again. They both made 50ts as New Zealand won this game by 10 wickets. Brendon Mccullum scored 76 off 95 balls which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Guptill scored 86 off 108 balls which included 7 fours and 2 sixes. It is there second 10 wicket victory as they move closer to the quarter finals. They are the rank outsiders to go far in this world cup but they look impressive at make it to at least the quarters.

New Zealand move on to play Pakistan in there next round. The winners of that match will surely be conformed as one of the 4 teams to qualify to the quarter finals. For Zimbabwe they have an must win match against the co-host Sri Lanka. Pakistan have shown Sri Lanka are not invisible but they are playing on there home ground and Pakistan didnt have to face Malinga. It will be a tough ask for Zimbabwe.
