Australia v New Zealand- This was an very emotional match for Nez Zealand as an devastating earth quake had hit Christchurch (New Zealand second city). In the match Australia looked really impressive with there 3 main quick attack bowlers doing the damage again. New Zealand were 76-6 then Nathern McCullum and Vettori the captain got New Zealand to an decent total. They were bowled out for 206. Nathern McCullum making 52 and Vettori 44. But Australia never looked in trouble in chasing that score the openers got them off to an flyer as the first wicket put on 133. With Watson scoring 62 and Haddin 55 who was the first man out. Watson went in the same over. But thats as good as it got for New Zealand as Australia eased to an 7 wicket victory. They did get Ponting stumped off a wide but Clarke and White got them over with 16 overs to spare.
Netherlands v West Indies- After the Netherlands pushed England all the way in there first match they were brought down to earth by the West Indies. Netherlands won the toss and elected to ball and there bowling frailties were exposed again as the West Indies made 330-8. With Gayle top scoring with 80 Smith getting 53 Sarwan just missing out on 50 with 49 and Bravo 30. But the star man was Pollard who hit 60 off 27 balls including 5 fours and 4 sixes. The batting for the Netherlands wasnt to much better as they slumped to 56-6. The star of the last match ten Doeschate was out for 6. The only person who gave some fight was there other star Cooper who hit 55. 7 better than he got against England NO. Bukhari gave him good support with 24 but when he was out the game was up. That was after a bad start as they lost a wicket after the first ball and then another to leave them 7-2. But Taibu scored 98 and Ervine scored 85 with Williams, Utseya and Cremer scoring quick runs at the end to get them nearly to 300. Zimbabwe start was bad but Canada's start was worse as they were 7-3. It got a little better as Gunasekera and Hansra put on 43 for the 4th wicket but they both feel at 50 runs. Surkari came and scored 26 which was Canada's top scorer but he also went out as Canada slumped to 123 all out. Which means Zimbabwe won by 175 runs and kept there hope of getting a quarter final.
Sri Lanka v Kenya- Kenya have been the worst of the sides that we have seen in the world cup. They won the toss against Sri Lanka and elected to bat first which was a bit of a surprise. They lost 2 wicket wickets with one wicket going to the returning Malinga. Then C Obuya and his brother D Obuya played a really good innings. They both made 50ts with C Obuya top scoring with 52. They were 102-2 but then Malinga bowled C Obuya. When D Obuya went out for 51 the rest of the team fell very quickly. b Malinga was the star as he got a hat-trick as Kenya were bowled out for 142 all out. Sri Lanka got to there target without too much trouble as they got there under 20 overs. The only loss of wicket was Dilshan for 44 which he got off 30 balls.
