Sports Round Up

6 nations- England are the 6 nations champions despite lossing to Ireland this weekend. England were very poor in Dublin as they were making simple mistakes and Ireland were inspired form. Tries from Bowe and O'Driscoll with Sexton being consitant from the boot apart from one kick. England had the sole try from Thompson nd one penalty from Flood as they lost 24-8.

It meant Wales had an slight chance of winning the 6 nations if they beat the French in Paris by over 20 points. But it was France who put on a show for the French public as they ran in 3 tries of there own 2 from Nallet and one from Clerc while Parra kicked the rest to Hock's 3 kicks as they trashed Wales 28-9. It means England won the Championship outright with 4 victories with taken second with 6 points on points difference ahead of Ireland finishing 3rd and Wales 4th all finishing on 6. Scotland avoided the wodden spoon as they eased to victory against the Italians as they ran in 2 tries in there 21-8 victory. So they finish 5th with 2 points and just ahead of Italy finishing 6th with also 2 points after there win against France.

Tennis- Djokovic keeps his unbeaten run going in 2011 as he beat Nadal in the Indian Wells final. It was an tight first 2 sets 4-6 6-3 but Djokovic stepped up an gear in the third to take in 6-2. Djokovic winning this tournament means he will overtake Federer as world number 2. In the womens event Wozniacki battled passed an spirited Bartoli as she won 6-1 2-6 6-3. This is her second title of this year. This will cement her world number one as Clijsters pulled out of the tournament through an shoulder injury.

Fifa- Mohamed Bin Hammam will be standing against Blatter for the FIFA president. He is hoping to be the first Asian FIFA president. He wants an more open FIFA which is transparent. He will also run against Grant Wahl who is an American journalist and he calls himself as the "people's candidate".

Villa- Gerard Houllier's job is safe according to Paul Faulkner Aston Villa chief executive. Despite being 1 point off the dropzone and only having 6 wins since he took over. But Paul said "Our best chance of staying up is with Gerard." There was an banner at the ground calling for his head. There next game is away at Everton.

Bolton- Bolton will have to play the rest of the season without Holden as he got an knee injury and will be out for 6 months. Holden, 25, had 26 stitches in the wound and is expected to have surgury on Tuesday. He tweeted on his twitter account "I can promise you all I will come back stronger and better than before,". He signed a new contract with the club in December until the summer of 2013.

Wolves- Zubar wil miss the rest of the season as he is going to have an back operation. He has made 15 apperances this season and has been a key player in trying to keep Wolves up. In better news Stephen Hunt, Adlene Guedioura and Michael Kightly have all returned to light training. There next match is against Newcastle.

London 2012- The British Olympic Association has granted the men's and women's volleyball entry into London 2012. Team GB can have another team if they make the world's top 16. This is an boost for the volleyball team as they lost funding for there sport from the government. They join the basketball, table tennis, judo, handball, indoor volleyball, water polo and weightlifting teams into qualification as host nation.

Finally- Tokyo have canceled the World Figure Skating Championships. It was espose to take place between 21 and 27 March but after the earthquake and tsunami. The ISU is hoping to rearrange the competition for April or May.
