London 2012- Team GB synchronised swimming team have been awarded places at the London 2012 Olympics. The synchronised swimming team join the Basketball, table tennis, judo, handball, indoor volleyball, water polo, weightlifting and beach volleyball who have all been awarded places automatically in London 2012. The team said "We are all really excited about having the opportunity to compete at the Olympics." The event will take place in 5-10 August. In other news ticket sales are going "steady"and "healthy" as there is interest in all sports.
Cricket world cup- Collingwood will need an Knee operation to correct cartilage damage. He has had this injury for most of the winter will have the operation only after the world cup. This will probably mean he will miss most of the IPL who he will be playing for Rajasthan Royals. Muralitharan who had an hamstring injury during the last match is expected to be fit. He pulled his hamstring when batting against New Zealand diving in to get for an extra run. In other world cup news Sehwag remains an doubt for the match against Australia which takes place in Ahmedabad tomorrow.
Fred Titmus- Former England and Middlesex Fred Titmus has died at the age of 78. Titmus made his first class debut in 1949. He played 4 Ashes series and he after 6 years out of test he came back to play in the 74/75 tour. He died through an long illness.
Jose Mourinho- Mourinho has been talking about how impressed he was with Spurs and how they have played in the champions League. "It is fantastic for Tottenham. They have a reason to be proud already". Real are 5 points behind Barca in La Liga but Real are in good form and are 8 games unbeaten after convincing victory against Lyon (4-1)Mourinho thinks Real will have too much against saying "I believe we are the better team and I believe we are going to do it.". He also talked about the England captaincy "I don't know completely the process. Because I know him [Terry], he is a great captain. I never worked with Rio Ferdinand before, but I have no doubt Rio Ferdinand is also a great captain. "For some national teams it's difficult to chose one. Preimier League- The Premier League will oppose the reintroduce of standing areas. The Football Supporters' Federation are launching an online campaign to get standing areas back. Domestic County Cricket- In a reform of the county system the Friends Provident t20 will be reduced from 16 games per team to 10 games with eight teams then advancing to the quarter-finals. The county Championship will remain the same with 9 teams in each league with 16 games per season. The Clydesdale Bank 40 is being reviewed and is likely to become an 20 team competition instead of 21 team competition by adding an quarter final. These changes will come into force in 2012.
Boxing- Finally Wladimir Klitschko has started the mind games saying David Haye will be knocked by Klitschko in the 12th round. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live "I will definitely enjoy the fight for 12 rounds. Eventually, in the 12th round, I will knock him out". He went on the attack saying "You know what? I'm so scared of David Haye. He says he's going to take out my jab; so, I will really feed him with the jab - jab jab grab, jab jab grab, grab, and eventually the right missile is going to land on his chin or his temple or whatever it is. So I'm sorry guys, but David Haye will get knocked out." The fight is expected to happen is some time in April.
