On another dramatic day at Wimbledon the championships really hots up as many of the top seeds were pushed to the limit and some fell by the wayside in both the men'd and the women's as they all try and make it to the second week of Wimbledon.
Men: The highest casualty of the championship has come in as Roddick the 3 times finalists has been knocked out in straight sets. Feliciano Lopez played the match of his life as he comfortably eased past Roddick. Lopez showed strength on both the back hand and forehand side as he dominated the first set. He was hitting down big serves and was able to get into the Roddick serve the majority of the time and got his reward when he broke the American at 4-4 to serve for the set. Roddick known as the fighter played his best game on the Lopez serve to break straight back. It was an glimpse of the Roddick of old. But that is as good as it got for Roddick as the set went to an tie-break and to prove how well Lopez was getting into Roddick serve he got himself 3 mini breaks while Roddick got none. He went onto to win 7-2 in the tie break.
Second set was similar to the first Lopez holding his serve and Lopez getting into the Roddick serve but this time Roddick did fight saved an few break points and went to another tie-break. It was an carbon copy of the first tie-break as Lopez broke the Roddick serve 3 times and went on to ease the second set 7-2 again. Full of confidence Lopez really did take the attack to Roddick early in the 3rd set and in Roddick's second service game he was Broken. The dream looked to be over for Roddick as Lopez was holding his serve easily. Roddick kept up the pressure holding his serve even though Lopez was still getting into his serves Roddick hoping his standards will drop. He then got his chance Lopez serving for the match and got up 15-30 but Lopez stuffed out the danger coming up with some big serves to take the game and the match 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. His first victory in 8 attempt against Roddick.
The final match on centre court caused an great battle as Murray was pushed against the experienced Croatian Ljubicic. In an tight and nervy first set both men were making uncharacteristic mistakes as they traded early breaks but Murray was the one who took advantage of the slow start as he was able to break to Ljubicic 2 games later. He started to hit back the Ljubicic fast serves and really put the pressure on Ljubicic and it tolled as he doubled faulted the crucial break to take the first set 6-4. The second set started very poor for Murray as played an terrible game where he double faulted twice to hand Ljubicic the break. His second double fault came as break point. Ljubicic had new energy and started to serve really hard and fast which was unplayable as he was going towards the second set. Murray had one opportunity getting an service game to 15-40 but some big serves and big ground strokes stuffed out the danger and was able to take the set 6-4.
Murray knew he had to respond and did in magical style as he broke the Ljubicic straight away. He didnt just break him once but he broke him an second time to get an 5-0 love lead. Murray wanting another bagel to his name tried to win it 6-0 but Ljubicic was able to hang on. Ljubicic then played his best game in that set on the Murray serve being 15-30 up but some big serves of Murray took him to the third set. The 4th set was once again an close affair Ljubicic finding his range again and Murray finding his as well on serve. Both getting into each other serves but no-one was able to get the knock-out punch but it seemed to have finally come as at 3-3 where Ljubicic felt the Murray presence as he played some wonderful passing shots to get the break. He then converted the break to go one game of victory. Murray wanting to finish off the match there and then tried and attacked the Ljubicic serve and was 30-30 but Ljubicic did some big serves and held on to make Murray serve it out. Murray got an little bit tight and made an couple of errors and Ljubicic sensed his nerves and really attacked the Murray serve and the pressure got to him as Ljubicic played his best game to break Murray back. He then back it up with an love service hold to put the pressure back on Murray. Murray battled past his demands and served it out out to take it to an tie-break. The crowd on the edge of there seats really supporting the home man and started off an really tight tie-break as both men make mistakes and at change of ends were 3-3. Murray then held his second serve to get 4-3 then Ljubicic make 2 unforced errors in his serves to bring up 3 match points and 2 on Murray's serve. The first one Ljubicic attacked really well and won but the second one an big serve which was only just hit back and Murray smacked the forehand in to win the match 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) finishing at 9.45 PM in the evening.

Women's- The big Shock of the day on the Women's side was the world number 2 and seeded number 2 Zvonareva getting knocked out Pironkova. These 2 women met in the semi-final of last years Wimbledon. Pironkova really wanted revenge and showed her attend from the word go as she blew the second seed away in the first set. She was serving well, getting into the Zvonareva serve and was unable to live with the big hitting of Pironkova. Pironkova was hitting the ball nicely and had to only saved one break point in the whole set. She was able to break the Russian serve twice as she raced to an 6-2 first set win.
The second set was an bit more competitive as Zvonareva was starting to get her radar in gear and was getting into the Pironkova serve a bit more. With the pressure being put on the Pironkova serve she was able to stay strong. She had this advantage of serving first as she broke in the last game of the first set so she knew if she broke again and held she would be an clear 3 games ahead and that is what happened as Zvonareva played an poor game where she was broke to 15, and that one point she got was an unforced error by Pironkova, she never looked back and went on to win the match 6-2, 6-3. Even though it was an improved Zvonareva in the second set she only had 3 chances to break and 2 of them were in one 1 game.
Sharapova had to battle through her match against Young Brit Laura Robson. The British Wildcard world ranking of 254 really did put an good account of herself against the favourite to win SW19 Robson. The first 2 games were both 8 minutes long as both women were making unforced errors which Robson took the early advantage. She went up 3-0. Robson continued to show an good account of her and the score went on to 4-1 and Robson looked to try and get an double break. But Sharapova showed her champion quality and saved off more break points and came roaring back in as she broke the Robson serve to go get it back to 4-4. She then threatened to break her again and take the first set away from Robson but Robson dug deep and help onto her serve twice more. Sharapova was holding easily then and the first set went to an tie-break. An exciting tie-break which Robson was actually 4-2 up and was looking to win the first set but like how the rest of the set went Sharapova fought back to win 5 points in an row with some quality shots to win the tie break 7-4.
The second set seems to be slipping away from Robson very quickly as she went down one break and then an second but she fought in there and before Sharapova could convert the break she broke back to make it 3-1 but Robson could not hold onto her own serve and went down another break and 5-1. Looking lost in the second set Robson went on an mission impossible where she then played another super game and broke the Russian again and then held onto her own serve. Mission Impossible seemed possible again as she went up 30-40 in the next Sharapova game but Robson missed her one chance by netting an difficult forehand. Sharapova then served her way to the next round but not without an fight winning 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. There was also disappointment for British number 1 Baltacha as she went down in an thrilling 3 set match to China's Shuai Peng. She won an tight first set 6-4 but her level dropped in the second to loss it 6-2. Baltacha had chances in the third being up an break twice before Peng breaking back each time and in the 12th game an 8 minute game which Peng did enough to break her Baltacha again to take the match 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
There were also victories for World Number Wozniacki winning 6-1, 6-3 Razzano in just over an hour making only 1 unforced error in the whole match. 5 Times Champion Venus Williams also progressed as she trashed Jose Martinez Sanchez 6-0, 6-2. Petrova an former world number 3 also got through in straight sets beating Bondarenko 6-3, 6-2, and 8th seed Kvitova also went through in straight sets winning 6-3, 6-3 against Italian Roberta Vinci 6-3, 6-3 as well. Bartoli had her match an bit tougher as she battled past Lourdes Dominguez as she saved 3 match points on the way to winning 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, and Azarenka the 4th seed winning in 3 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. But there were also defeats for Kuznetsova losing an tight match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 by Wickmayer breaking in the last game of the match to win and the 11th seed Andrea Petkovic losing to Russian Ksenia Pervak 6-4, 7-6.
