Chelsea have eased to a first leg win against Copenhagen. Anelka was the difference between the 2 teams as Chelsea didnt have to sweat too much during the whole 90 mins. The first goal came from a poor pass by Gronkjaer as Anelka pounced on to score his first. Then the second came from a Lampard pass for Anelka to slot in his second and a step closer to the quarter finals.
The Danish champions had not played since the start of December and looked like a team which hadnt played for a few months. In Contrast Chelsea looked like a team which wanted some revenge after losing in the FA cup. Anelka and Torres were playing upfront with Drogba on the bench. Anelka was very clinical but Torres still lacked that confidence and could not convert his chances he had.
Torres first chance happened Ramires shot got to Torres and he had a sight of goal. Torres then started to look like his own self and was taking on defenders and he had another shot which he poked and the goalkeeper saved. The frustration of Copenhagen was clear when Jorgensen tackled Torres as they could not stop him any other way.
Cech who was unused in the first half had very little in the second as well but Vingaard did have a long range effort saved by Cech and they had a couple of shots just wide. Apart from that they didnt have too much to over. It was an confident performance by Chelsea and already have one foot into the next round.
