Sebastian Vettel was unstoppable in his Red Bull to capture pole position in Australia.
Lewis Hamilton was able to show Mclaren's car improvement as he closed within 0.778 seconds of Vettel to join him on the front row.
Ferrari struggled throughout qualifying as Fernando Alonso will start fifth while teammate Felipe Massa could only managed eighth on the grid.
Micheal Schumacher was disappointing in his Mercedes by only qualifying 11th for tomorrows race and Rubens Barrichello spun his car into the gravel in Q2 so could only manage 17th.
But the most disappointed driver is Nick Heidfeld after falling at first hurdle and qualifing 18th.
