Sri Lanka vs New Zealand- New Zealand were completely outplayed as Sri Lanka put on a good show for the Mumbai crowd as they trashed New Zealand. The two old guys Sangakkara and Jayawardene really played well as put on 145 for the 4th wicket partnership. Sangakkara scored 111 off 128 balls including 12 fours and 2 sixes and Jayawardene 66 off 90 balls with 6 fours. Mathews scored 41 NO off 35 balls including 4 fours. None of the other batsman made it to double figures sa they made 265-9 off 50 overs.
New Zealand reply started off positivity but when McCullum went out to Mathews wickets kept falling. A lot of players got starts but no one went on. McCullum out for 14, Guptill 13, Ryder 19, Taylor 33 and Franklin 20. Oram did have a hit at the end but he ran out of partners as he finished with 20 NO. They were bowled out 153 all out. The reitiring Muralitharan got 4 wickets the other spinner Mendis getting 2 with Dilshan, Mathews, Kulasekara and Malinga getting a wicket each. It means Sri Lanka finished 2nd in there group.
Pakistan vs Australia- Pakistan put in an brilliant bowling performance as they beat Australia by 4 wickets. The problem for Australia was that a lot of there players got starts but didnt go on. Haddin top scored with 42, Clarke made 34 and Steve Smith making 25. Ponting made another disapointing knock as only made 19 as Australia ere bowled out for 176. Gul took 3 wickets for 30 runs, Razzaq took 2 wickets in his 4 overs for only 8 runs, and Hafeez, Riaz, Afridi and Rehman taking an wicket each.
Pakistan lost a couple of quick wickets as Lee got the openers. Shafiq and Younus Khan re-built the innings having an 53 run partnership but Lee came back and took 2 wickets in 2 balls taking Younus Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq. Umar Akmal and Shafiq built up another strong partnership 41 when Johnson took out Shafiq and soon after Afridi was also out for 2 as Australia seem to be coming back into the match. But Umar Akmal and Razzaq put any hope of Australia winning a side as they hit there way to victory as they won by 4 wickets. That means Pakistan finish the group top and Australia finished 3rd.
Zimbabwe vs Kenya- Zimbabwe rounded off there world cup in impressive style as they beat Kenya by 161. Taibu hit 53, Sibanda hitting 61 and Ervine scoring 66 as they racked up 308 there 50 overs. Kenya never looked like making that target as Kenya made less than half the Zimbabwe score 147 all out. Odhiambo scoring an useful 44 NO, Patel 24 and Obanda making 23 but it they feel well short as they ended an poor cricket world cup where they didnt win one match or look like winning a match at the cricket world cup.
The group finished- 1st- Pakistan 10, 2nd Sri Lanka 9 points, 3rd Australia 9 points (3rd on net run rate), 4th New Zealand 8 points, 5th Zimbabwe 4 points, 6th Canada 2 points and Kenya 7th with 0 points.
